What it is
Pressed into the panel face rather than punched through. The catalog gives these no hole diameter because there are no holes: the design is formed in the metal and the panel stays closed.
What it does
Gives the ceiling a texture and a shadow line without opening it. Nothing shows through to the plenum and nothing passes the other way. The pattern itself contributes no absorption, so an acoustic requirement has to be met by the panel and its backing rather than by the face.
Where it is best used
Ceilings that have to stay closed: clean areas, kitchens, wet areas, and anywhere dust or light from the plenum would be a problem. It is also the group to use when the room needs no acoustic treatment but a flat white plane would look bare. These hold the widest set of panel sizes in the catalog, up to the largest formats it lists.
Special perforation is a face pattern, not a performance specification. The special sheet publishes no open-area figure for any of these. Where the acoustic number is what has to be met, work from the uniform range, which gives an open area for every pattern in it.
